FAQ

How do I schedule a new client initial consultation?

Book an appointment using our Bookings calendar in Google calendar.  If none of these times work for you, you can also email info@phippentax.com to schedule an appointment.  We offer a block of weekend consultations monthly for those with restrictive schedules and schedule additional blocks of time, schedule permitting.

How does Phippen Tax & Financial Services work with clients?

The tax, financial, and legal needs of each individual, family, and business are unique.  At Phippen Tax & Financial Services, some clients hire Patrick for only their annual tax returns.  Others seek advice for how to create businesses, use our payroll and business management services once their businesses are formed, develop plans for retirement or other savings goals, write wills or trusts to make sure their loved ones are protected, and seek legal representation in audits.  The Phippen Tax methodology is to provide comprehensive tax planning, financial management, and legal services that suit the specific needs of the client to meet the client's goals.

Can I just hire you for tax preparation, even if I am a small business owner?

Yes, we are happy to provide the services our clients need, and there is no pressure to use our other services.

Can I just hire you for payroll and business management even if I have another tax preparer?

Yes, we are happy to provide the services our clients need, and there is no pressure to use our other services.

I thought I needed a CPA.  Why are you qualified to prepare taxes?

Enrolled Agents are also qualified to prepare taxes, and are actually specialized tax preparers.  Additionally, lawyers are permitted to prepare tax returns, so Patrick is actually double-qualified to prepare taxes!

I live in another state/country. Can you still prepare my taxes?

Yes, Patrick currently works with clients from 30 states, the District of Columbia, and seven countries.  While working at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the Department of Justice Tax Division, Patrick's jurisdiction included all U.S. tax cases.  With a LL.M. in International Taxation from Georgetown, Patrick litigated cases across the country and the world and has an expertise in the intricacies of U.S. international tax law.

How much does a consultation cost?

An initial 15-minute consultation with Patrick is completely free.  After learning a bit about your personal situation and services required, Patrick will provide an estimation of time required and a quote for services.  If you are willing to include a bit more information when submitting your new client form, this can help provide a more complete picture.
